Pizza Hut - Intimidating Drivers Asking For A Tip

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Tue, 05/26/2015 - 18:16

Hi folks,

After having my pizza delivered recently with a drizzle of unexplained hostility and not a hint of a smile, I was expecting the driver (a young Asian male driving a black hatchback) to leave my doorstep and get back into his car. Instead, he loitered on my doorstep, looked at me in an intimidating manner (as he did last time but I didn’t think anything of it at the time) and asked if I was going to give him a “service tip”. I could not believe what I was seeing/hearing! In my surprised state I said I didn’t have any change, to which he repeated what I said in reply, loitered for a little longer and then slowly walked back to his car and left.

The Pizzas were fine, however, in the past a few slices have been soggy, as if run under the tap and ruined on purpose...

I don’t normally tip take away delivery drivers due to the minimum spend rule and the fact that they’re usually not trying to bring up three kids on £2 an hour due to our decent minimum wage. I have NEVER detected even the slightest hint of displeasure from any take away delivery guys in all of my years nor have I ever been dissatisfied with any food I’ve received until ordering from the Amersham branch of Pizza Hut recently.

No doubt Pizza Hut management would be horrified. I’m posting this to make others aware and to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

Hill Avenue

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Tue, 05/26/2015 - 08:51

A sign has appeared at the top of Hill Avenue warning that the road is going to be closed overnight from 18 to 30 May.  I guess this means that the whole road is to be resurfaced.  Hope that will make some people happier.

Anyone Visited New Secondary Newland College, Chalfont St Giles?

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Fri, 05/22/2015 - 21:50

Hi all

I visited Newland College, the new school that's opening in Chalfont St Giles this September and I was really impressed.

The areas that inspired us most were the IB Middle Years Programme, enthusiastic and approachable Head, strong pastoral care, importance of academic attainment whilst considering the whole child, flexibility on choice of languages, and teaching in small classes boardroom style so everyone takes part.

If you've seen the school can you share your thoughts?

A new application has gone into CDC. The demolition of existing properties and the building of six terrace houses. CH/2015/0761/FA.

Looks pretty good to me with off street parking and new lamp posts along the frontage.

Will the old bumpy Rd be made up properly as this is the access to the parking area.

Man In Van Stalking Young Girls - This Has Been Reported To Police 3X Now

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Wed, 05/13/2015 - 09:26

Please advise your kids to be extra vigilant...

My Daughter was approached in October 2014 whilst waiting for me to pick her up from a school drop off point in little Chalfont the bus stop by the car park. At the time he was in a Red Van my Daughter called me from her mobile to let me know that he was shouting to her out of the window and that she was very scared. I drove as quick as I could to get to her talking on the way on the phone fortunately she had the intelligence to move away from him and use the phone. I pulled in behind him got out of the car to approach him and he saw me and bombed off! I drove as quick as I could and read the reg number out to my daughter. We spoke to the police and notified schools in the area the police had reports of him spotted outside Chenies school the next day. We had definitely got the number plate down correctly but the police advised a week later that the plates did not match! He is using false registration.

So today the saga continues!

Here is a post from a friend and also one of my daughters friends on facebook... It looks like the van colour has changed but this awful man is still at large! Please spread to as many people as you know .. Your Kids must be street Savvy and Aware till he is found!

"So we have another predator or the same one approaching 12 year old girls in broad daylight in the Amersham/Little Chalfont area. Thank goodness the girls involved were quick witted enough to scream, get away and ring 999. Please make your kids aware of a man in a blue van this time, never walk around alone and DO NOT entertain speaking to anyone who stops by them and keep moving or run to a house."

"Me and ****** were walking back to mine and this man in a van pulled over and was like "hey sexy" and then he tried to pull us in his van screamed and ran away and then called the police and then they came and put me and Ellie in their police car and asked us about it and then I had to tell them where I lived and then they took us back to my house to tell my mum, so if anyone sees a dark blue smallish van then please pm me or call me if you have my number! "

Recommendation For Ceiling Replacement

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Mon, 05/11/2015 - 12:48

I am looking for some recommendations to get a ceiling replaced in our dining room, as it is unfortunately close to collapsing.  Can anyone recommend any local people who may be able to do the job fairly urgently? I'm looking to get a couple of quotes.

Memorial Gardens

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Fri, 05/08/2015 - 21:31

Does anyone know what is happening at the Memorial Gardens in the Old Town. They've been closed for a good 7 weeks and the sign (posted early March) mentions that a contractor working on site will have things open within 6 weeks. Today we noticed that most of the flowers have been planted which is great, but there is no sign of opening soon or the fountain in the middle from "peeking" in.

Usually, the area is fully open and in bloom by now, but this year, there seem to be some hold ups and that's a shame given we're nearly in May by now.

Decent Car Wash/ Mini Valet?

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Fri, 05/08/2015 - 09:59
Having bought a new car I'm going through the inevitable 'let's keep it nice and clean' for the first six months before I just put up with it being dirty all the time.

I don't have time to do it myself (never mind the hosepipe ban) and although I've used the Arc on Chesham Road before, I don't really like those automatic machines; they miss as much as they clean.

What I'm looking for is a local place that'll do a mini valet for a reasonable price i.e. one that can be justified every couple of weeks.

Not bothered about mobile or premises, as long as they're local.

Amersham News and Reviews Forum - Fri, 05/08/2015 - 09:11
Obviously a passionate topic for the passive folk of this forum, but I thought I'd start a thread. Personally, I want to see change. I am not happy my MP does not live anywhere near the constituency and the story of her selling her house on the news of HS2 is pretty damming.

Also, Amersham has been very poorly served by CD councillors, with appalling attendance records.
